Are you headed to Wicker Park Fest this weekend?
Be sure to check out the many street-side sales which will be included in a neighborhood-wide Summer Sidewalk Sale, organized by the Wicker Park Bucktown Chamber of Commerce.
With over 40 participating vendors-44 to be exact!-this two-day sale, from 11AM-6PM both days, is gearing up to be one of the biggest and best yet. Check out the list of where to shop in the poster, and visit the sale’s Facebook page for more details.
Headed to the Fest and wondering where to get a copy of the We’re in the Neighborhood booklet? Copies will be available at the WPB Chamber booth, specifically booth #60, at Milw. and Honore. Stop by to check out all the community information, as well as LIVE Poetry-on-Demand provided by Rose Metal Press poetry cooperative.
The Week Past, The Week Ahead
Here is a link to July 19, and 22nd Pipelines.
I've slacked on blogging/posting on streetsofwicker, and feel bad, but with website, Twitter, newsletter, it's just too much. Will try to update more when I can. Feeling pulled in too many directions. There is an event at Congress Theater Sat. July 30th, 6:30PM. Food, music, comedy, FREE BEER, all welcome. It's a fundraiser to support the work of the entire pipeline team - Nandika-Phlash-Joe-Myself- as well as performers...
Adding event coordination on top of everything else is putting me over the edge. This week I got heatstroke from no A/C and sleeping in a room with no windows after having four hours sleep over two nights. I know I need to take better care of myself. Too many plates spinning.

Teen to Go to Court Today (Monday) from Fatal Car Crash Sunday Morning
Scott S., a Pipeline reader, was awoken by sounds of sirens around 6AM yesterday morning, when a stolen Range Rover SUV driven by a 16-year-old teen collided with a car driven by a longtime 911 Dispatcher near the intersection of Hoyne and Armitage in Bucktown.
The dispatcher was on her way home from her work shift and died at 6:54AM at Advocate Masonic Hospital, per this Sun-Times Media Wire story posted yesterday.
As for the 16 year-old minor, charged as an adult with murder and going to court today (Monday), we initially blurred out his face as well as the face of the arresting officer, and then decided to delete the photo all together. The youth was wearing all one solid color and likely affiliated with a gang.
