About the Artist:
Born in France, HELENE BIZOUERNE, started studying in a very
traditional school in Paris, learning the authentic technics of haute
couture and draping. She then studied fine art , at l'Ecole
Superieure d'Art appliques Duperre.
Having gained admission to the prestigious Central Saint Martins in
London, she graduated, four years later, with a BA Hons Fashion
Design with Marketing and Management.
Attracted to New York she started her career in fashion at Calvin
Klein Collection in womenswear where she continued to learn her
craft for the next two years.
She then moved to Calvin Klein Jeans in mens to specialize in
denim. This gave her the opportunity to spend time in laundries in
LA and HK discovering the intricacies of washes, construction and
discovering the growing potential of casual wear as it became more
dominant in the fashion mix.
Parlaying her
expertise in denim, she moved to Tommy Hilfiger
Jeans to further develop her knowledge of denim and wovens. This
gave her the opportunity to travel extensively in India - a country for
which she developed a lifelong passion.
Utilizing her commercial experience, Helene then moved to Express
where they had just opened Express mens and needed to acquire
talent and experience. Here she was promoted to Design Director
and ran the Tailoring Division.
In 2008, she moved to Chicago. Seeking a respite from the corporate
world she focused on her love of creative painting and started her
own esoteric clothing line, Hone.
As her style developed, she has won praise for her expressionistic,
primitive, large format style which contains a determinate echo of
her fashion sensibility.
