"Grease" (The Sing-a-Long Version) is the first Movie in The Park scheduled July 7 at Churchill Park, 1825 N. Damen. Bring your own lawn chairs. Movie will start at dusk (around 8 PM) followed by an after party at Lottie's. Sponsored by the Bucktown Community Organization.

READ A BOOK, HELP A SCHOOL - all summer long
Here's a win, win, win deal for parents thinking about sending their kids to the new Pulaski IB program. If you go online and read (online) a short book to your child, the Hyatt hotel chain will donate a hard copy of that book to the Pulaski school library. It only takes a few minutes, but it could result in adding over 1,000 books to the Pulaski library. Get started at We Give Books. (http://www.wegivebooks.org/hyatt )

BUCKTOWN GARDEN WALK - Sat-Sun, July 9-10, 11 AM - 5 PM

Over 100 Bucktown residents open their gardens to friends and neighbors one weekend a year during the annual Bucktown Garden Walk. You can get a map and list of locations from the Welcome Table at Club Lucky, 1824 W. Wabansia. Enjoy!

FRIENDS OF HOLSTEIN PARK - Tues, July 19 6:30 PM
The Friends of Holstein Park needs your help staging our two major community events this fall: The Circus in the Parks performances in September and The Bucktown Apple Pie Contest in October.

We want everyone to come, participate and enjoy both. But we also can use help at this stage organizing and promoting the events. Please attend our monthly Friends of Holstein meeting Tuesday night in the field house to learn more. If you can't make it, contact Michele Pennington (mrwerle@gmail.com) to get involved in the pie contest; or Lucy Jacobs (lucydomino@aol.com) to join the circus. Thanks.

MULCH! - Sat, July 23 9 AM to Noon

If you use the kids playlot at Holstein, you can appreciate that it gets a lot of wear and tear. On Saturday, July 23, Chicago Treekeepers is organizing a 3 hour volunteer session to lay down mulch around the trees . . . and otherwise preserve and protect the fauna in the area. Please take a little time to help keep the area thriving.

MOVIE IN THE PARK II - Sat, July 30 at Dusk

"Shrek Ever After" is the second outdoor movie in the park scheduled Saturday, July 30, at Holstein Park. There will be a refreshment stand, but again, bring your own lawn chair. Movie starts at dusk (around 8 PM). Sponsored by The Friends of Holstein Park.

AND FINALLY . . .
Save these dates for the funnest weekends of the summer and fall: Bucktown Arts Fest, August 27 & 28 . . . Circus in The Park, September 24 & 25 . . . The 7th Annual Bucktown Apple Pie Contest, Sunday, October 16. Be there or be square!
