Bucktown boutique Virtu (2034 N Damen Avenue, www.virtuchicago.com) teams up with Toronto based jeweler Anne Sportun for a weekend trunk show Friday, May 20th through Sunday, May 22nd. Anne Sportun’s work is recognized the world over for her simple settings sparkling with white and natural diamonds, spectacularly colored stones set in 14kt white or 18kt yellow golds. Celebrating a Decade on Damen Avenue, Virtu is the perfect place to find something for someone who has everything. Each and every one of our pieces of fine jewelry, stationery, and personal and home accessories has been crafted individually for uniquely you.
In celebration of ten years in business, Virtu’s top ten artists have each agreed to donate a signature piece to be raffled over the course of the next ten months. Raffle tickets are $10, one for each of Virtu’s years in business. At the end of each month, a winner will be chosen to receive the raffled item, and the raffle pool will be donated to one of ten local foundations.
For the third installment of A Decade on Damen raffle, Anne Sportun has graciously donated a beautiful multi sapphire briolette bracelet (valued at $1420) to be raffled off in honor of the Juvenile Diabetes Research Foundation. Raffle tickets will be available at Virtu or online from Monday, May 2nd through Tuesday, May 31st at which point a winning ticket will be drawn.
The JDRF is the worldwide leader in funding research to cure type 1 diabetes a chronic, debilitating disease affecting every organ system. Type 1 diabetes is an autoimmune disease in which a person's pancreas stops producing insulin, a hormone that enables people to get energy from food. While its causes are not yet entirely understood, scientists believe that both genetic factors and environmental triggers are involved.
