The Bucktown Apple Pie Contest - Sunday, Oct 10 2-5 PM

Whether you like to make pies or eat them, this is your chance to celebrate autumn in Bucktown at an event that features music by Tangleweed, pony rides, square dancing, ice cream and . . . pie, pie, pie.


Renown Chef Gale Gand of Tru and Hoosier Mama, selected by Bon Apetit magazine for making one of the 10 best pies in America, lead a judging panel that will select the top five winners.

Teen Baggo Tournament and Pizza Party - Monday, Oct. 11

The After School Kids at Holstein Park will be competing in a bean bag tournament at Chase Park that rivals anything you'll see in a Bears Game parking lot. Wish them well. The bus leaves Holstein at 11:30 AM.
Oz Park Pumpkin Patch - Saturday, Oct. 16

It's not in the hood, but it's close. The Oz Park Pumpkin Patch at Webster and Halste offers free pumpkins, a petting zoo, hayrides and fake tattoos for children of all ages.
Friends of Holstein Park - Thursday, Oct. 21 6:30 PM

Friends of Holstein Park invite everyone who volunteered at our recent events to talk about how to spend the money raised. Can't make the meeting? Call Michelle Pennington at 773-353-5003 to learn more about how you can get involved.
Trails of Terror - starts Friday, Oct. 22 6:30 - 9:30 PM

Every year the Chicago Park District stages a "Trails of Terror" Halloween extravaganza in Peterson Park (5801 N. Pulaski). Wind your way through nearly one-half mile of spine-tingling terror in the woods crawling with creepy characters. Admission is $10.

Children under the age of 8 are NOT encouraged to attend. But the rest of you will have your socks blown off. Two weekends only: October 22-24 and October 29-31.
Circus in the Park - 4 More Performances

Did you miss Circus in the Park at Holstein? The Midnight Circus will be appearing Oct. 9 and 10 in Portage Park (4100 N. Long) and Oct. 16 and 17 in Chase Park (4701 N. Ashland). Performances are at 2 and 5 PM Saturday, 1 and 4 PM Sunday. Admission is $15. Under 2 yrs free. Get Your Online Tickets Here.

After School Halloween Party - Friday, Oct. 29

The After School program kicks off Halloween with a costume party at the park. Dust off those old Darth Vader outfits . . . and be safe out there!
