Art Opening, Jan. 21: B-Sides at Coalition Gallery

B-Sides

An exhibition featuring works by the 14 Coalition Gallery artists.

Opening reception Friday, January 21, 2011 (6:30 – 9:00pm)

Coalition Gallery will host a free opening reception for B-Sides, a group show featuring work by the Coalition Gallery artists for 2010-2011:

Adrienne Pike, Bernell Loeb, Brad Nugent, Bryan Boomershine, Christie Helm, Connie Wolfe, Dimitri Pavlotsky, Jori Foreman, Kevin Wisor, Nathalie Gribinski, Robin Dluzen, Sarah Rehmer, Shawn Stucky and Zach Mory.

Curated by Pepper Coate and Susan Aurinko, B-Sides is an exhibition featuring works by each of the artists, created in a medium separate from their primary genres. As painters exhibit sculptures and glassworks, printmakers present photographs, and figurative artists deviate from the human form, this exhibition is an opportunity for the artists to showcase successful works in a medium for which they are not well known to employ.

This exhibition will provide regular Coalition Gallery viewers with a fresh look at the Coalition Gallery artists they’ve come to know, and will provide new audiences with quality works in a range of media and content. Part way through their year-long residency, the members of the cooperative gallery are able to challenge each other through this exhibition and revitalize this already vibrant artist community.

B-Sides continues through Friday, February 25, 2011.

Gallery Hours: Tuesday-Friday, 12pm to 5pm and Saturday, 12pm to 6pm, or by appointment. Ph. 773.772.2385. (Also open until 8pm on the first Friday of each month).

Coalition Gallery is located at 2010 W Pierce Ave, Suite 102, Chicago
