Up Close with the Author of The Boomer's Guide to Aging Parents

In the next 20 years, close to one-third of the population in the U.S will be over the age of 65. And one out of every two people over the age of 85 will develop dementia.

Aging is more than a 'booming' industry; it is on the minds of the Baby Boomer generation, sandwiched between caring for their children as well as their parents, who're requiring more assistance and compassion as they live longer and more independently.

Carolyn L. Rosenblatt is the author of The Boomer's Guide to Aging Parents.

Though I was on an 'out of the neighborhood' adventure this past week when I met Carolyn (she makes some great Play-doh sculptures too!), I am including a link to her book in the next Pipeline because it is an invaluable resource for Baby Boomers, written from the insights of a registered nurse who has worked directly with elders in nursing home environments. Carolyn became so passionate about helping seniors advocate for themselves, and assisting their children, that she also studied law and became an attorney too, specializing in elder care.

Carolyn's husband of 28 years, a psychologist, provides therapy services to families who are taking care of their elder parents. The couple shares an office in Marin County, Calif, and have a daughter who sounds a lot like me professionally- perhaps a Marin County Pipeline e-newsletter is next?!
